SANTO DOMINGO (República Dominicana).- Acogiendo la solicitud del Ministerio Público, el Tercer Tribunal Colegiado de Santo Domingo Oeste condenó a 10 años de prisión a un hombre que introdujo un contrabando de armas de fuego al país el 21 de abril de 2023.
Annober Acosta Terrero fue condenado con base en distintas pruebas, testimonios, documentos y peritajes, aportadas por el Ministerio Público, representado por los fiscales Vilma Méndez y Joel Pinales.
El fiscal José Lenin Hernández inició la investigación luego de que miembros de la Seguridad Militar y Policial de la Dirección General de Aduanas (DGA) detectaran dos cajas con contenido sospechoso en el puerto de Haina Oriental.
Estas habían sido enviadas por el acusado desde el puerto de Brooklyn, Nueva York, con destino final a su residencia en la provincia Barahona.
Durante la inspección de las cajas, los agentes encontraron un arsenal completo que incluía: seis pistolas de diferentes calibres, un rifle, dos escopetas, cientos de cartuchos, 581 tacos para preparar cartuchos de escopeta, cientos de balines de metal, mil novecientas ochenta y nueve cápsulas calibre 22 milímetro y pólvora de alta potencia extrema.
El tribunal, presidido por el magistrado Juan Pablo Ortiz Peguero e integrado por los jueces Leonarda Quezada Belén y José Augusto Santo Salvador, declaró culpable a Annober Acosta Terrero por violar varios artículos de la Ley 631-16 para el Control y Regulación de Armas, Municiones y Materiales Relacionados, así como disposiciones de la Ley 168-21, que sanciona la defraudación aduanera y el contrabando, en perjuicio del Estado dominicano.
Acosta Terrero deberá cumplir la pena impuesta en el Centro de Corrección y Rehabilitación (CCR) Najayo Hombres, ubicado en la provincia San Cristóbal.
